On Took a Second, our second Liquid Saloon release, you’ll hear the collective expanding outwards in every direction: the grooves are deeper, the rhythms more complex, the sounds more kaleidoscopic. Shades of West African highlife and Afro-beat shine through, swirled together with smoothed-out disco, polyrhythmic hand percussion, New Orleans funk and more. After experimenting onstage through 2019 and 2020—including live blowouts with 11 players—Bresler, Zisling and Nomok set to work building their second album in Bresler’s home studio, the Liquid Saloon itself. Slowly but surely, 10 infectious grooves emerged. Took a Second is Liquid Saloon’s open invitation to you—come in, take a sip, loosen up, and get down.Credits //
