Folly Tree
Folly Tree’s Alex Moshe knows she doesn’t know it all — about love, about life, about herself — but with every song she writes, she’s discovering more. Born in Canada and raised in the Middle East, she named her solo project Folly Tree after waking from a dream about the Tree of Knowledge, whose fruit opened Eve’s eyes in the Garden of Eden. “I woke up and I knew,” says Moshe. “What’s the opposite of the Tree of Knowledge? Something more intuitive, unjudgmental, celebrating foolishness. A folly tree.” And her tree bears fruit: gorgeous, textured, experimental folk songs, exploring the complex emotions of budding love and healing trauma. Today, Moshe is a fixture in Tel Aviv’s vivid music scene — playing with a half dozen bands, as well as frequent collaborator and rising star, Raw Tapes’ own iogi.
